  1. Tudung Traveller

Facebook reminded me that 4 years ago today, I’d just bought my ticket for the Alhambra in Granada on whim right before I flew off on my first big solo trip through Spain. I was fresh out of a toxic relationship, having broken up while my ex & I were separated by thousands of miles, and figuring my way around the open wound. _ Five years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined being here. I’d thought I’d be married by now, just shifting in into the new little box, busy settling in. Choosing colour schemes, furniture, maybe building that living room library I’ve always wanted. I never thought that I’d walk away with eyes wide open from the abusive relationship I thought was normal. _ Four years. I’ve been single for four years. _ Sometimes it amazes me how much has changed since that decision. The amount of healing, of stumbles and falls, of heartbreak and pain. And the growth. Oh, the growth. It still amazes me too how life gifts us with different people, experiences and lessons in a timely manner, and all that matters is for us to keep showing up and do our best. _ โ€œYou canโ€™t be brave if youโ€™ve only had wonderful things happen to you.โ€ _ Some have asked me if I’ve given up, if I ever would give love a try again. But the thing is, I never gave up. I’ve made friends with love, and I find it in many different places. I found it in the difficulty and wisdom of self-love, in the service of family, in the silent presence of my bestfriends, in the laughter of toddlers, in the bright smiles of orphans. And occasionally, in the company of men. Some of them ever so kind, while others with much to be desired. I never give up. I’ve just yet to find someone worthy. In the words of my dad, “He’s on his way.” _ _ I know how life sometimes seems just a process of losing things and people we never thought weโ€™d lose and then filling the spaces as best as we can after. It’s a cycle of getting hurt, getting broken, and then healing, getting up on our feet slowly, and then trying again. _ It’s not easy, I know. I’ve had the opportunity to show up in the face of pain post-trauma recently, and it looked a lot like talking myself through the experience. [ctd in comments]

So inspiring, bukan?

  1. Muslim Travel Girl

Today is my birthday! Another milestone of turning 30!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‚ I have literally lived my life in 3 different countries for 10 years each…. now it’s time to move again.๐Ÿ˜œ For now I want to share with you 30 things I learned in my 30 years on this earth. ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ๐Ÿ”ธ Life is a gift and we should appreciate it. Patience is a virtue and we should practise it more (this is coming from a formerly very impatient person) Travelling does make you more confident Travelling does make you wiser Life education is as important as university education. Quality over quantity is more important (I try my best) Doesn’t matter where you work professional conduct is important Social media and Instagram are not always the true reflection of someone’s life Unless you feel comfortable in your own skin you will never be enough for yourself Money is great but relationships matter more Minimalism really makes you happier and less stressed Your family will always love you, but doesn’t necessarily mean they know what is right for you. Islam is truly a beautiful religion, despite what the media says (look it up for yourself) Labelling something Halal doesn’t necessarily make it so Moving countries at a young age can be an eye opener Because you don’t consider yourself a racist, doesn’t mean you are not Professional blogging is harder than it looks /feel Being an entrepreneur is great for the flexibility but sucks for work-life balance (working on this). My first “job” was at 10, when I worked in my mum’s store in order to buy a bag I wanted, that handbag-love is still strong 20 years on. Travelling is one of the best gifts you can buy someone… really! I love seeing my mother’s happy face ……for the rest click the link above…โ™ฅ๏ธ
